Chelsea have been handed a £20,000 fine by the Football Association (FA) for failing to control their players during last week’s draw with Huddersfield Town.

Captain César Azpilicueta, midfielder Cesc Fàbregas and defender Antonio Rüdiger reacted angrily to referee Lee Mason’s decision to blow for half-time before a corner could be taken, with Rüdiger having to be restrained by assistant coach Carlo Cudicini.

A statement released by the FA on Wednesday read: “Chelsea have been fined £20,000 after accepting a charge for failing to ensure their players and/or officials conducted themselves in an orderly fashion.

“The incident occurred at half-time during the game against Huddersfield Town on Wednesday, May 9.”

The match finished 1-1 – a result which meant the Terriers successfully avoided relegation and contributed to Chelsea finishing outside the Champions League places.#

Antonio Conte’s side have one more match this season, however, when they take on Manchester United at Wembley on Saturday.
