With Antonio Conte set to leave Chelsea and Maurizio Sarri and Laurent Blanc have been heavily linked to the position in London.
The Telegraph is reporting that Chelsea will most likely have to shell out the cash to sack Antonio Conte, paying off the rest of his €10m-a-year salary as his job prospects seem to be dwindling by the day.
With Real Madrid’s appointment of Julen Lopetegui, it appears that Roman Abramovich will unwillingly have to give the Italian manager his desired compensation, and may have to pay Napoli to poach Sarri.
Sampaoli interviewed for the job at Stamford Bridge two years ago, and Chelsea could save potentially paying an additional €4m for the Argentinian manager instead of paying off Sarri.
Also, they wouldn’t have to worry about Sampaoli lighting up a cigarette on the sidelines.
