Chelsea and Ajax have reached a verbal agreement for the transfer of Hakim Ziyech, according to De Telegraaf.

The 26-year old was one of the stars behind Ajax’s incredible run to the semi-finals of the Champions League last season and it was somewhat a surprise that the Moroccan has stayed at the club throughout the two corresponding transfer windows.

But it looks like Frank Lampard has won the race for the playmaker.

De Telegraaf are reporting the deal will be worth around €45m.

Personal terms have yet to be agreed between the player and the Premier League club but it appears the transfer has passed it’s first obstacle on the way to being completed.

Ziyech has scored six goals and laid on 13 assists for his teammates in 18 appearances for Ajax this season.
