Tuesday night saw history made in the Champions League.
Not even 18, Maarten Vandevoort became the competitionâs youngest ever goalkeeper.
With just one Belgian Pro League appearance under his belt, Vandevoort started between the sticks as Genk travelled to Napoli.
The competitionâs youngest goalkeeper until now was Mile Svilar, who made his Champions League debut for Benfica at 18 years and 52 days. After a promising start, Svilar committed a huge error to conceded in the game against Manchester United.
At the other end of the scale, Gianluigi Buffon could play for Juventus on Wednesday at the age of 41 years and 317 days.
An appearance would make the Italian just the SECOND oldest goalkeeper, almost two whole years behind ex-Lazio stopper Marco Ballotta.
