On Tuesday, Celtic signed 21-year-old striker Patryk Klimala to a four-and-a-half-year contract from Polish top-tier club Jagiellonia Bialystok.

The Hoops paid a reported £3.5m fee after the Poland U-21 international scored seven goals and assisted three others in 17 Ekstraklasa matches this season.

“I understand how massive a club Celtic is, but I feel I’m ready for this now,” Klimala told Celtic TV.

“I’m looking forward to playing for a club with such a big history and I know Celtic are a huge club in Europe.

“I want to give fans a lot of happiness and hopefully score a lot of goals for Celtic.”

While Celtic’s first signing of the January window will be welcome for many, it could spell the end for either Leigh Griffiths or Vakoun Issouf Bayo.

Griffiths has only featured for 524 minutes this season and, minutes after the club announced Klimala, was involved in some cryptic activity on Twitter.

In addition to liking a tweet that suggested his Celtic career could be over, he posted a GIF that showed him sticking his fingers in his ears.

Shortly afterwards, he not only deleted the post, but deactivated his Twitter account as well.

Griffiths has not scored since August and will need to get a heavy dose of first-team football if he is to figure in Scotland’s Euro 2020 play-off plans.
