Leicester boss Brendan Rodgers has called for Ben Chilwell to focus all his attentions on the Nations League with England this summer – and not impending transfer speculation.

Chilwell has been heavily linked with the likes of Arsenal and Manchester City in recent months following an exceptional season for the Foxes.

It’s almost certain that the 22-year-old will be called into Gareth Southgate’s squad for the tournament in Portugal and Rodgers is hoping that the youngster blocks out any potential rumours and focuses on winning some silverware with his country.

“It is the modern game, there is lots of speculation, but all you can do with young players is to keep them focused,” Rodgers told the Leicester Mercury.

“They can’t control it, they just need to perform well.

“Someone like Ben, he is one that is improving every day and getting better. That’s all you can do as a player is look to improve, develop, make sure your performance level is consistent and you are focused.

“All the speculation you can’t control that. The job is to keep players focused and when they go away – some with the international teams – do the best they can, enjoy a break, but come back ready and that is what we will prepare for.”

Leicester could have a huge say on where the title goes this season when they take on Manchester City in their penultimate game of the campaign next Monday.
