The Irishman took over at the King Power Stadium in February and has enjoyed a positive start.

Much of that is down to the form of Vardy in front of goal, with Rodgers opening up on just how impressed he has been.

“He’s such a good player, has such great speed and is a real talisman for the team,” said Rodgers.

“If you watch him from the outside, as as fan seeing his goals, you might have a certain view of him.

“But you can’t do what he does without being really good and intelligent, which he is.

“He’s always alert and gets chances and never switches the engine off. He’s always ready to work and press.

“You see the speed he has. He’s such a threat. He can occupy a whole defence on his own.

“For me is just a really good player and been a joy to work with.”

Since Rodgers took over, the Englishman has scored seven goals in as many games.
