Brendan Rodgers is confident Leicester will still be solid defensively despite the departure of Harry Maguire.
The Foxes ultimately failed to sign a replacement for Maguire after the England international joined Manchester United in an £80m deal this summer.
But on Sunday, they kicked off the new season by holding Wolves to a 0-0 draw at the King Power Stadium, with Turkish centre-back Çağlar Söyüncü playing an instrumental role in his side’s clean sheet.
“Çağlar was excellent,” Rodgers told BBC Sport after the game.
“He got a round of applause at the end from his team-mates and it’s not easy to come in for a special player like Harry, but Çağlar was strong and comfortable on the ball.”
VAR also came to Leicester’s aid when it ruled out a Wolves goal for a Willy Boly handball early in the second half.
But unlike his opposite number Nuno Espírito Santo, Rodgers is all in favour of the new technology.
“I’m a massive fan of VAR,” added the Northern Irishman.
“I’ve said all along that some will go for you, like it did today, and some will go against you, like it has done for Nuno today.
“It has to always be consistent and if there’s a handball and that leads to a goal, it gets ruled out.
“The officials are trying to work it the best they can. It’s not perfect yet but as long as you get to the right decision, that’s what we want.”
