Bayern Munich goalkeeper Manuel Neuer has been ruled out of action until January after injuring his foot on Monday.
The goalkeeper picked up the injury in a training-ground incident and suffered a hairline fracture in his left foot which is going to rule him out for much of the season.
He has already been operated on and “gone perfectly” according to Karl-Heinz Rummenigge.
A statement on the club’s website said:
“Manuel Neuer (31) got a new hairline in his left midfoot yesterday. After an appropriate diagnosis at the Montagnachmittag, the Bavarian captain was handed over this morning by Univ.-Prof. Dr. Ulrich Stöckle operated in Tübingen. A plate was used. Karl-Heinz Rummenigge said: “The fact that Manuel Neuer has once again suffered an injury, is so terribly sorry for him. The operation has gone perfectly and this is the most important thing now. We are now looking forward together with our captain. Manuel will be available to us in old strength in January.”
