In a big blow to his Real Madrid prospects, Brahim Díaz faces up to five weeks out of action after suffering a thigh injury.

Tests on the problem in Montreal, where Real are currently based, confirmed that he will be out for longer than had been first hoped.

MARCA report that the situation now complicates Díaz’s future, particularly in the short term.

Although he had been expected to go out on loan this season, the 19-year-old had hoped to win coach Zinedine Zidane around in pre-season.

His injury means he will no longer get the chance to do that and he may now not return to action until September.

As a result, it now seems all but certain that he will play away from the Santiago Bernabéu in the coming campaign.

Eden Hazard, Karim Benzema, Luka Jović, Vinícius Júnior, Gareth Bale, Marco Asensio, Lucas Vazquez, Mariano and Rodrygo will all compete for attacking places.

Having lost the opportunity to win a place in the squad for the coming season, Díaz seems set to depart temporarily.

There is reportedly plenty of interest in the former Manchester City man, although Zidane will have the final say on the attacker’s future.
