Borussia Dortmund sporting director Michael Zorc says Christian Pulisic is unlikely to leave the club in January.

Pulisic has fallen out of favour at the Westfalenstadion this season and has been linked with a move away from the Bundesliga side.

Liverpool boss Jürgen Klopp is thought to be a big admirer of the 20-year-old and reportedly failed in an attempt to bring him to Anfield in August 2016.

Chelsea have also been hotly tipped to make a move for the attacker when the transfer window re-opens on 1 January.

However, with Dortmund currently top of the Bundesliga and through to the next round of the Champions League, Zorc insists they have no intention of parting with one of their prized assets.

“We will not sell a player in winter who’s essential to us achieving our sporting aims, of course,” he told Sport Bild.

“That’s a matter of fact.

“I strongly expect Christian will still be wearing the BVB jersey in February.”

Pulisic played the full 90 minutes of BVB’s 2-0 win over Monaco on Wednesday but he hasn’t started a league game for the club since September.

Speaking last week, former USMNT star Alexi Lalas urged the player to seek more regular playing time elsewhere.

“There are teams all over the world that would love to have Christian Pulisic right now,” Lalas told Fox Soccer.

“I think he’s done a great job in going over to Germany, he’s done a great job at Borussia Dortmund.

“But I think it’s time for a change right now for Christian Pulisic, and a change to an even higher profile team.”
