Bernardo Silva’s spell on international duty has been cut short due to ‘physical problems’.

The Portuguese playmaker is unavailable for his country’s Nations League clash with Poland and has instead returned to Manchester City.

Silva is ‘not an option’ for coach Fernando Santos with the FPF confirming his absence.

“Following medical and diagnostic tests performed by the FPF Health and Performance Unit, player Bernardo Silva was considered unavailable for the meeting against Poland, to be held this Tuesday in Guimarães,” they said in a statement.

City coach Pep Guardiola will hope the fitness issues are not too serious to rule him out of his side’s next match at West Ham.

The Manchester club are currently top of the Premier League table, two points clear of Liverpool in second.
