Ronaldo left the capital for Juventus during the summer transfer window, ending a nine-year spell in Spain in which he won a record five Champions League titles.
However, despite his departure, Benzema insists the pressure of playing for Real and their recent dominance over the competition leaves them in good stead to succeed again.
“This competition is another level. All the matches are important, there is no easy one,” he told AS.
“One thing I like: Real Madrid is the best club in the world and every year there is pressure to succeed.
“We know there are a lot of strong rivals, but if I have to say a favourite, it’s always going to be Real Madrid. We have to sacrifice a lot to always be victorious.”
Los Merengues begin their Champions League campaign against Roma on Wednesday.
