Atlético Madrid could complete the €120m signing of Benfica sensation João Félix within the next few hours.

That’s according to Marca, who report on Monday that Atlético are set to beat Manchester City to the Félix’s signature having agreed to pay the 19-year-old’s release clause in full.

The Portugal international is reported to have travelled to the Spanish capital on Monday to complete a deal with the Rojiblancos which would see him become the most expensive signing in the club’s history.

However, Portuguese outlet Record claim Félix could still travel to Manchester afterwards for talks with Premier League champions City, who are also understood to be willing to pay his €120m release clause in full.

But if the teenage starlet does end up moving to the Wanda Metropolitano as now seems most likely, his arrival is expected to trigger the departure of Antoine Griezmann to Barcelona.

Félix wowed onlookers with his performances as Benfica clinched the Liga NOS title last season. He managed 20 goals and 11 assists in 43 appearances and also recently made his senior debut for Portugal in the Uefa Nations League.
