With the football on hold at the moment, we’ve been thinking about who gets in Bayern Munich’s all-time XI.

Today we’re choosing our third and final forward.

Here are the nominees …

3rd – Uli Hoeneß

Before Hoeneß became president of Bayern, he wasn’t half-bad as a player as well.

Hoeneß was picked up from amateur side TSG Ulm in 1970 and his professional career turned out to only be a short, lasting nine years in Bavaria.

However, the forward did shine in those nine year scoring 109 goals in 336 appearances.

Hoeneß went on to dedicate 49 years in whole to the club off-the-pitch as well as on it, and will be remembered as a club legend. Those three league titles and three European Cups he helped win helped as well.

2nd – Robert Lewandowski

Bayern pulled off one of the greatest transfer coups when they stole Robert Lewandowski from their arch rivals Borussia Dortmund on a free transfer in 2014.

The Polish striker has been one of the main reasons why the club have dominated German football, with Bayern winning the league every season since his arrival.

Lewandowski has been one of the best strikers in his generation, winning the Bundesliga golden boot three times since arriving and finishing fourth in the Ballon d’Or running in 2015.

He has scored 230 goals in 275 appearances for the club but just misses out on a place in the side due to not winning that elusive Champions League title.

And the winner is … Karl-Heinz Rummenigge

Karl-Heinz Rummenigge is another player that has been part of the fabric of the club, after holding a role at the top of Bayern since 1991. He has been the CEO since February 2002.

Before he hung up his boots, Rummenigge was one of the greatest players to ever wear the red shirt.

The German forward was a player with immense technical ability that could hold on to the ball and take players out of the game in a way similar to Lionel Messi today.

Rummenigge scored 217 goals in over 400 appearances in a decade playing for the club.

His name will forever be synonymous with Bayern Munich after winning two league titles and two European Cups.

He also picked up two successive Ballon d’Ors in 1980 and 1981, so he must have been half decent.
