Mario Götze, Robert Lewandowski, Mats Hummels. It’s been a while since Bayern Munich targeted one of Borussia Dortmund’s top players and pulled the deal off.
It’s been so long, that Götze and Hummels have even returned to Dortmund in recent years.
But Bayern Munich are once again looking towards their rivals as they look to strengthen their squad.
According to kicker, the Bundesliga giants are strongly considering a move to sign Achraf Hakimi in the not-too-distant future. The Moroccan wingback has been superb for Dortmund this season but his two-year loan spell is due to expire in the summer, meaning he would head back to Real Madrid.
However, there are still doubts surrounding how much playing time he would get at the Bernabéu. Dani Carvajal is clearly the first choice at the club and is still only 28.
Could another loan, or even a permanent move, be on the cards for Hakimi? If so, Bayern are sure to be just one of many interested parties.
