Bayern Munich are looking to continue the impressive streak of the Bundesliga title holders beginning the season with a win this week.
The Bavarian giants host Hertha BSC in the season’s opening game on Friday and history suggests they’ll win.
Every year in the Bundesliga, the reigning champions plays the first game of the new season.
For the past 10 years in a row, the reigning champions have managed to kick off the new season by claiming all three points.
Bayern have won the curtain-raiser on seven consecutive occasions but were also the last team to fail, drawing 2-2 with Hamburg way back in 2008.
Thomas Müller is the only player who was involved that day who remains at the club but wasn’t amongst the scorers, with Bastian Schweinsteiger and Lukas Podolski netting for the hosts.
Will Hertha – who have lost just one of their last six meetings with Bayern – stop the run of reigning champions at the Allianz Arena on Friday?
