The Germany international has been a top target for the Bundesliga champions this summer as they look to strengthen out wide.

While the club have acknowledged that any deal would be difficult to pull off, they are now set to end their interest in Sané.

That is according to Sky Sport, who report that Bayern have now accepted that any deal for Sané is very unlikely to materialise.

Given that it would also take a fee of over £100m to tempt City into a sale, the Bavarian club will turn their attention elsewhere.

The report states that the Citizens are confident that the former Schalke man wants to remain at the club.

While Sky in Germany claim he will seek assurances from Pep Guardiola on his future, their English counterparts suggest he wants to stay at the Etihad.

Latest suggestions are that Bayern will now revive their interest in Chelsea’s Callum Hudson-Odoi or wantaway Dalian Yifang man Yannick Carrasco.
