Bayern Munich defender Niklas Süle has revealed that he is aiming to be fit in time for the end of the season and is hopeful of playing in this summer’s European Championships.

Süle ruptured his cruciate ligament back in October with then-Bayern president Uli Hoeness insisting that the centre-back should “forget” about representing Germany at Euro 2020.

But the 24-year-old is now confident he can be back playing in time for the final weeks of the club season.

“I’m confident that I can take the next step soon with change of direction training and with the ball. I think it’s quite realistic that I can still help Bayern this season,” he told Bild.

“Not only the European Championship is my target, but also to help my team in the final part of the season and to play.”

Bayern have had to adapt without their towering central defender, with David Alaba moving in as a replacement and Alphonso Davies starring at left-back.
