Bayern Munich CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge insists any decision on James Rodríguez will not be made until the summer.

James joined Bayern on a two-year loan from Real Madrid in 2017, and the Bundesliga giants have the option to purchase him permanently for €35m next summer.

However, after a strong start in Bavaria, the Colombian has struggled under Niko Kovac and is currently sidelined with an ankle ligament injury.

“We have an agreement where there is an option that we can activate by June 15, 2019,” he told Sport Bild.

“We are now in November and I do not think it makes sense to talk about this topic right now.

“We are all convinced in the club that he is a great footballer,” Hoeness added. “Unfortunately, he is injured now.

“He is always a player who has done a lot offensively, helping his team-mates score goals or scoring them himself.”

Elsewhere, the future of Kovac remains in serious doubt after their spectacular collapse against Fortuna Düsseldorf, with Arsène Wenger already being heavily linked.
