Frank Lampard refused to hang any individuals out to dry in the wake of Chelsea’s second half collapse against Sheffield United, Ross Barkley revealed.

The Blues led 2-0 at the interval, a time when the man in charge warned against any complacency.

But his side failed to heed to the warning and conceded two goals to draw 2-2, with Barkley shedding some light on the dressing room conversation.

“We scored two goals in the first half which were gifted to us really, and he said if we’re not careful and we concede a goal then we’ll be up against it,” Barkley told Chelsea’s official website.

“We conceded a goal early in the second half and then things just didn’t go our way from then on.

“Afterwards he didn’t pick on anyone individually. We didn’t perform well as a team so it was more speaking about the whole team as a collective and not individual performances.

“You’ve just got to try and make things happen but we didn’t create enough chances and didn’t hit the target as much as we should have.

“We all know and we all spoke in the changing room after the game that we didn’t perform at the levels we can.”

Chelsea sit 11th in the table after four games, having picked up just one league one under Lampard so far.
