Barcelona have decided not to sign defender Rodrigo Caio despite agreeing terms for a move.
According to Goal and Sport, the 20-year-old was ready to undergo a medical in Brazil on Thursday evening.
However, the deal was cancelled after the Catalan club signed Jeison Murillo from Valencia.
A loan deal had been struck for Caio, with an option to make a move permanent in the summer for €15m.
The centre-back was targeted after Barcelona lost Thomas Vermaelen to injury. Ernesto Valverde’s side remain unsure when Samuel Umtiti will return from a knee problem and needed reinforcements at the back. However, they opted to sign Murillo instead.
The Colombian international has moved to Camp Nou on loan until the end of the season.
The reigning LaLiga champions have an option to sign him permanently for €25m next summer.
