After Antoine Griezmann announced he would be staying at Atlético Madrid for another season, the Catalan club will now reportedly prioritise a midfielder.
Replacing club legend Andrés Iniesta, who left for the Japan last month, will be no easy feat but Spanish paper Mundo Deportivo reports that Barcelona have pinpointed Miralem Pjanić as that man.
The 28-year-old Juventus star has also attracted attention from Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain with his strong performances in a deeper role under coach Massimiliano Allegri.
Former player Éric Abidal will take over his new technical director role on Monday, at which point the club could finalise a bid for the Bosnian international.
The Blaugrana have followed Pjanić since his time in Ligue 1 with Lyon and feel that he could slot in well in their system.
Under contract at Juve until June 2021, Mundo Deportivo suggests that bidding for the former Roma playmaker would likely start at his €65m.
