Romanian legend Gheorghe Hagi spent two years at Barcelona between 1994 and 1996 and now his son Ianis could be about to follow in his father’s footsteps.

According to Romanian outlet Gazeta Sporturilor, the LaLiga giants have been tracking Ianis Hagi for a number of months and are currently weighing up a €7-8m bid for his services.

The 20-year-old attacking midfielder currently plays for Viitorul Constanţa and though he has been capped five times at senior level for the Romanian national team, he was also part of the U21 squad that was knocked out of the European Championships by Germany on Thursday.

Gazeta Sporturilor claim Barça could sign Hagi and play him in the B team in the Segunda División B.

Alternatively, they could sign him and loan him out to another club in the Primera División instead.

Hagi spent two years at Fiorentina between 2016 and 2018, during which time he made two first-team appearances for the Serie A club.

He played 39 games for Viitorul Constanţa in 2018/19, scoring 14 goals and assisting eight others.

Back in April, both Ianis and father Gheorghe were spotted together in Barcelona but when questioned by Romanian media at the time, the youngster denied he was in the city to discuss a transfer.
