Barcelona eye Toulouse star Issa Diop as Samuel Umtiti replacement

Barcelona are reportedly targeting Toulouse defender Issa Diop as a replacement for Samuel Umtiti.

The 21-year-old has been a standout performer for the French club and is considered one of the best young defenders in Europe.

Mundo Deportivo report that Umtiti is likely to leave the club due to a contractual stand-off, with Manchester United circling with intent.

Diop’s contract at Toulouse runs out in 2020 and he has already drawn links with Premier League rivals Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur.

However, if Barça took their interest further, it’s believed that the 21-year-old would jump at the chance to play for such an esteemed club.

Belgian centre-back Thomas Vermaelen is also expected to leave the Camp Nou after an injury-hit spell.
