Barcelona boss Ernesto Valverde has revealed he has spoken to Arturo Vidal after the Chilean took to social media to vent his anger at a lack of playing time.

The 31-year-old has played just 179 minutes for the Catalan giants since joining from Bayern Munich in the summer and posted an angry face emoji on one of his accounts after playing just a few minutes in Barcelona’s Champions League victory over Tottenham. He also posted again after playing a bit-part role against Valencia.

While Vidal, who has not featured in the league since the end of September, insists the post was not to do with Barcelona, Valverde confirmed he has spoken to the midfielder but would not reveal what was said.

“We have the idea to solve the problems we have inside the dressing room, not outside, and we will keep things that way,” said Valverde.

“Yes, I have spoken with Arturo Vidal, of course, but I won’t detail about what.

“We try to deal with things this way so there’s not so much drama generated, like there has been in the last few weeks.”

Barcelona have the chance to go top of the LaLiga table when they host Sevilla, currently one place above them in second, on Saturday evening.
