If Neymar wants a move to Barcelona to happen this summer, he will probably have to tell Paris Saint-Germain that himself.

Barcelona president Josep Bartomeu was due to meet with PSG chief Nasser Al-Khelaïfi at a European Club Association meeting on Thursday.

However, Bartomeu has decided not to attend. Instead, he will remain in Spain and accompany the team to their LaLiga opener against Athletic on Friday.

Officials from Barcelona were already in Paris on Tuesday but couldn’t reach an agreement over a deal to sign Neymar. Reports earlier in the week claim PSG are eager to include Nelson Semedo in any deal, along with Philippe Coutinho and a sum of at least €100m.

Barcelona, though, remain unlikely to agree to those terms.

According to Mundo Deportivo, the LaLiga champions are now waiting on Neymar to state his intentions.

Real Madrid have also expressed an interest in the Brazilian but Barcelona are hoping he will rule out a move there by telling PSG he is only interested in a return to Camp Nou.

For now, Barcelona and PSG remain some distance apart after initial talks.
