Celtic are closing in on a loan deal for Australian World Cup star Daniel Arzani.

Arzani will join Manchester City from sister club Melbourne City and then spend the next two seasons at Celtic Park.

According to Sky Sports, the 19-year-old midfielder has already undergone a medical and his move to the Scottish champions should be rubber stamped in the coming hours.

Arzani made three substitute appearances for the Socceroos at this summer’s World Cup and can play on either wing or in the number 10 role.

The Iran born star is regarded as one of the brightest talents to emerge from Australian football for a number of years and became the youngest player ever to appear for his country at a World Cup when he featured against France, Denmark and Peru in Russia.

Speaking earlier this week, Hoops boss Brendan Rodgers said he is looking forward to working with the youngster.

“He is, I believe, finalising his deal with Manchester City and in talks with ourselves to come in, as a possibility,” Rodgers told reporters.

“He is another exciting young talent and we will see if we can get that organised in the next few days.

“It is not going to be (before) midweek. He has just flown in, he hasn’t trained. He has obviously been at the World Cup so he will need to be in for a couple of weeks before he gets up to speed.”
