Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has paid tribute to his Arsenal team-mates after two goals on the final day of the season saw him share the Premier League Golden Boot.

His brace against Burnley helped Unai Emery’s side record a 3-1 win at Turf Moor, leaving him on 22 goals in 38 appearances – level with Sadio Mané and Mohamed Salah.

Aubameyang revealed he was targeting the accolade in his own mind but opted against distracting the squad for an individual award.

“Yeah, they knew I was close,” he told reporters. “But I said nothing to the guys because I didn’t want them to only focus on me.

“I’m a team player and if I wasn’t scoring, it wouldn’t have mattered. But I scored and I’m really happy for that. I have to be thankful to the team.

“I’m happy to score 30 goals. It was a tough season but I had the chance to score goals, because the team played a great season.

“Of course the last months were not the best in the Premier League, but the whole season, we put in a great effort.”

The Gunners return to action against Chelsea in the Europa League final on May 29th.
