Rico Henry could soon become Aston Villa’s third signing of the January transfer window.

Villa boss Dean Smith has already added goalkeeper Lovre Kalinić and centre-back Kortney Hause to his squad this month.

And on Thursday, rumours on social media suggested Henry was poised to join the Villans too.

However, according to the Birmingham Mail, Villa are interested in the 21-year-old left-back, but a deal is not expected to be completed imminently.

The Birmingham-born full-back was handed his senior debut by Smith at Walsall when he was 17, and the current Villa boss then took him to Brentford in the summer of 2016.

He has been capped for England at under-20 level and has also had to deal with serious knee and shoulder injuries during his short career.

But one fact which perhaps won’t endear him to the Villa Park faithful is that he was once a boyhood Birmingham City fan!
