Newly-promoted Aston Villa look to be in the driver’s seat when it comes to the signing of Stoke City goalkeeper, Jack Butland.
According to SkySports, Villa are poised to make an offer this week to Stoke in the range of £23m.
While looking for other options overseas, Villa ultimately decided on the 26-year-old due to his extensive Premier League experience.
Butland played in 77 Premier League matches with Stoke from 2013-18 before the Potters were relegated to the Championship.
The England international is keen on a move back to the Premier League, in order to improve his chances at the national team.
Butland has been included in every England squad since Stoke were relegated last summer, but has not played and has simply been Jordan Pickford’s understudy.
A move back to the Premier League is just what Butland needs to get quality minutes and compete for the starting goalkeeper position within the National Team.
