Arsenal only turned to new signing Pablo Mari after they had ‘several bids rejected’ for Lille centre-back Gabriel Magalhães.

Gabriel has been in impressive form for the Ligue 1 outfit this term, starting in 29 games across four competitions and scoring one goal.
