It means that the north London outfit are now on the hunt for person to lead their extensive scouting and according to the BBC’s David Ornstein, that man is Francis Cagigao.

Cagigao has been Arsenal’s man on the Iberian peninsula for 15 years and alerted the club to the likes of Cesc Fàbregas and Hector Béllerín.

An internal appointment is seen inside the Emirates has being the easiest transition but Ornstein also reports that the club are looking to bring in Monchi from Roma as a Technical Director.

Monchi was the architect behind Sevilla’s rise to prominence in the early 2000s and has since moved on to the Giallorossi.

Ornstein reveals that there is “no timescale” on the drive to get Monchi, so in the meantime Raul Sanllehi will continue in his all-encompassing role as Director of Football.
