Henrik Mkhitaryan has backed Mattéo Guendouzi to become one of the best players in the world – as soon as he masters English.

Guendouzi has enjoyed a breakout first season in the Premier League, making 30 appearances across all competitions.

And team mate Mkhitaryan has claimed that the teenager has to become fluent in the language first before he can truly rule over the Premier League.

“It’s always tough to move to a new country at a young age because you must understand the culture, the language and as well,” he told Copa 90.

“We are trying to help him to settle as quickly as he can. He’s studying the English language, he’s learning it.

“It’s not the best at the moment, but he understands most things.”

“But he is 19-years-old, so he has to be focused on football! To come here and play for Arsenal from Ligue 2 is unbelievable.

“It isn’t everyone who can have this chance. I think he has big talent.

“We are telling him every day that he has to work very hard, but he can become one of the best in the world.”

The Gunners travel to Huddersfield on Saturday, before facing BATE in the Europa League on February 14.
