Arsenal could be looking to South America to solve their centre-back woes.
According to a report from Calciomercato, Arsenal have beat Sampdoria to the punch and bid €12m for Grêmio centre-back Walter Kannemann.
The fee could reportedly increase if Kannemann hits certain performance landmarks.
Kannemann is widely regarded as one of the best centre-backs in all of South America and is part of the long-standing back line, along with Pedro Geromel, that won the Copa Libertadores in 2017.
The 28-year-old has a habit of winning titles. He also won a Copa Libertadores title with Argentine side San Lorenzo, where he played from 1999 to 2015, and took home the 2016 Copa do Brasil with his current side.
Kannemann has earned five caps for the Argentina national team, all since 2018.
