Chivas defender Antonio Briseño anticipates that his summer vacation will not be happening in order to complete the currently suspended Liga MX Clausura campaign.
Despite predicting that he will miss out on his bi-annual holiday, the 26-year-old will not be willing to accept a reduction in his wages.
A handful of players and managers from across Europe are beginning to sacrifice their salaries to help their club make up for their lost revenues but that’s not a measure Briseño feels he is up for.
“Just as the doctors help a lot right now, we as footballers cannot say: oh my, my vacation is gone.
“That’s selfish thinking. If you need to sacrifice vacations, they sacrifice themselves. The club pays you well, people need the show more than ever.
“Personally, like everyone, we have projects to build and an estate, so I could not sacrifice my wages.
“I got into debt due to many things, so I contemplate my salary. I speak in my personal capacity, not for everyone else.
“Those who earn too much in Europe, if they want, should donate their wages. However, one has needs based on their salary, so personally I will not.”
So far, the possibility of donating wages has not been brought up in the Chivas camp.
