Manchester United are ready to fight to keep Anthony Martial at the club this summer.

The forward missed out on France’s World Cup win and has his heart set on leaving Old Trafford due to fears his career is stagnating. Though he has just one year remaining on his contract, the club retain an option to extend his deal by a further 12 months.

Doing so would increase Martial’s value, with the Times saying Manchester United won’t sell the 22-year-old for less than €100m this summer.

A number of clubs are thought to be interested in the Frenchman, with the Times report revealing Chelsea are already working on a move. Martial is seen as an ideal replacement for Eden Hazard, who has expressed his desire to leave Stamford Bridge for Real Madrid. The report also says Bayern Munich – who continue to rely on 35-year-old Franck Ribéry and 34-year-old Arjen Robben on the wings – are also interested.

However, neither club would be willing to meet the €100m valuation that Manchester United have placed on the forward, who moved to Old Trafford in 2015.

According to the Telegraph, there is also interest from Tottenham, but Manchester United are unlikely to do business with the English club.

Martial’s playing opportunities have been limited by José Mourinho, who prefers to use Romelu Lukaku, Alexis Sánchez, Marcus Rashford, Jesse Lingard, and Juan Mata in his front three. The Portuguese has, though, said he will use Martial on the opening day of the season as Lukaku, Rashford and Lingard will return to training late following their World Cup exploits.
