Sunday’s match will be important for the team looking towards the post-season and also because of a personal landmark for full-back Paul Aguilar.

Club América’s 33-year-old defender will reach his 400th top-flight match in Mexico when he suits up for the Águilas against Toluca.

The wily veteran featured 115 times in Liga MX for Pachuca before transferring to nation’s capital in the summer of 2011.

Nearing 8 years since joining, Aguilar has grown to become a vital pillar in the azulcrema defence. The right-back has helped win 3 Liga MX titles, 1 Copa MX title, and 2 Concacaf Champions League titles with the club.

At the time of his arrival, América had less silverware than Chivas but the former Tuzo made sure to set the club apart in the history of Liga MX.

As he approaches the latter stage of his career, Aguilar has started to take younger team-mates under his wing to instill the same drive for success.
