It’s no secret that Diego Lainez has struggled in Europe since moving to Real Betis last January.
The 19-year-old winger has only featured for 54 minutes in five LaLiga matches this season and is set for a loan deal in the upcoming transfer window.
According to TUDN journalist Juan Carlos Díaz Murrieta, América are already starting to negotiate with Betis and Lainez’s representatives about a return to Mexico.
However, according to W Deportes journalist Juan Guzmán Gasso, while the approach from América is real, Lainez refuses to come back as he sees returning as a failure.
Gasso claims that Lainez will remain in Europe at all costs.
Since his €14m arrival last year, Lainez has struggled to make any sort of impact in Spain, scoring just once and adding a single assist in 21 games.
