América president Santiago Baños reveals the club rejected an offer from Roma for 18-year-old Diego Lainez.
Lainez is currently being courted by top clubs across Europe but will only move when “personal and economic conditions are met”.
“It clearly did not suit us because we want Diego to stay with us longer,” Baños told Récord. “Also, it probably was not what the club expected financially, so we have to wait until the right circumstances are met.
“Obviously he aspires to play in Europe, but I already know spoke with him. Diego reiterated that at the right time we will obviously discuss what happens next and what is best for him.”
