Newcastle earned their fifth result in their last six games on Thursday, scoring a 2-0 victory against Sheffield United at Bramall Lane thanks to goals from Allen Saint-Maximin and Jonjo Shelvey.

Saint-Maximin’s goal was the first goal of his Premier League career and it could not have come on a more special day.

“It’s special because I score with my head and I never think I can score with my head,” he told Amazon Prime.

“I’m really happy to score my first goal for Newcastle and I’m happy for the best striker in Newcastle [Shelvey] – four goals.

“It is all good, now we have to regroup for the weekend for the game against Southampton.

“I’m really proud because today is the birthday of my mother, and I score my first goal for my mother and I’m really happy to do that.”

Newcastle are now in 11th place on 19 points, level with Sheffield United and Arsenal, and will host Southampton on Sunday.
