Southampton goalkeeper Alex McCarthy has revealed how he has adapted his preparations while training at home.
The Saints, like the rest of the clubs in the country, are having to maintain their fitness from their house with the country on lockdown due to the coronavirus pandemic.
McCarthy hasn’t attended the Southampton training ground since March 16.
In his column for the Southern Daily Echo, the 30-year-old offered some insights into the inner workings of a professional footballer in these unprecedented times.
“I can’t lie. It has taken some getting used to as I like being at the training ground and around the other guys on the grass.
“The longer this situation goes on, the more. normal it is starting to become.
“I think we are definitely coping as best we can to maintain our fitness levels.
“But we will undoubtedly need a few weeks or maybe longer to get ready for when matches resume.”
