Club América supporters may be thinking the club made a giant mistake regarding their management of the goalkeeper position.

Since the club brought back Guillermo Ochoa, the Mexico legend has won just one of his eight starts between the sticks and the latest news to come out of Portugal will not do anything to comfort the masses.

After winning the award in August, former América goalkeeper Agustín Marchesín, now with Porto after what’s believed to be a deal worth around $10m, has won the Liga NOS Goalkeeper of the Month award for September.

Marchesín started each of Porto’s four victories (from four games) during the month of September, earning three clean sheets and making eight saves.

Marchesín was called up for Argentina’s friendlies against Germany and Ecuador and went the full 90 minutes in each match.

Porto are currently in third place in Liga NOS, having won six of their seven matches thus far.
