Arsenal have had tremendous success in the FA Cup in recent seasons and Arsène Wenger must be feeling confident as his side take on Nottingham Forest in the third round on Sunday.

Wenger named a heavily-rotated side to face the Championship club.

Only Ainsley Maitland-Niles and Rob Holding retain their place in the team from Wednesday’s 2-2 draw against Chelsea, meaning there are nine changes in the starting XI.

Danny Welbeck will lead the line, with Alex Iwobi and Theo Walcott behind him amid speculation that the latter player could leave the Emirates this month.

19-year-old defender Jordi Osei-Tutu, who has never made a first-team appearance for Arsenal, is on the bench alongside several other young players who will be hoping for a chance to impress.

Granit Xhaka, Sead Kolasinac, Aaron Ramsey, Olivier Giroud and Nacho Monreal are all injured, while Mesut Özil, Alexis Sánchez and Jack Wilshere are among the stars who are left out of the squad to rest.

It’s worth noting that many of the Premier League’s other big clubs did not rotate their squad as much for this weekend’s FA Cup fixtures.

Wenger has tended to play his cards right in these kinds of matches over the years and Arsenal should still have enough quality to pull out a result.
