Inter and Juventus played out an enthralling affair in Milan on Sunday night that ultimately went the way of the champions.

It was all about Argentina in terms of goals as Paulo Dybala fired Juve ahead and Gonzalo Higuaín inevitably won it after a Lautaro Martínez penalty had levelled matters.

Nobody comes close to these two

The football in this contest was exhilarating and harked back to the edgy Italian title deciders of the past.

Not only will this year’s Scudetto race go down to the final few weekends but it is very much a two-horse race.

Earlier in the day, Napoli, Roma and Lazio all showed their deficiencies by slipping up in their various games.

Then the top two took centre stage and brawled it out in a brilliant affair that will leave us longing for more throughout the international break.

They are evenly-matched and a class above all of the rest in Italy and many others on the continent.

We can’t wait to see how the rest of this rivalry plays out into 2020.

Don’t pile in on De Ligt

There seems to be a certain section of football fan enjoying the early struggles of Matthijs de Ligt in Turin.

They received more ammunition for their ‘overrated’ claims against Inter as he gave away a foolish penalty for a raised arm and had other unsteady moments.

But it wouldn’t be easy for any defender against an Inter attack that has so many different weapons to hurt you.

In a time when people expect instant success, particularly after he set the bar so high at Ajax, he is suffering from huge expectations.

His displays haven’t been as bad as some suggest and he is still a youngster bedding into a defence which has had more changes than the San Siro redevelopment plan.

Injuries and inconsistency in the selection haven’t helped him but he is honing his craft in a difficult and completely different environment.

Mistakes will happen and it is going to take time so afford him that patience to grow.

Inter missing their sixth Sensi

When Stefano Sensi exited with a first half groin problem, the groans around San Siro were not without good reason.

Not only were Inter losing arguably their star man this season but he was replaced by Matías Vecino, a man who is in the same mould as Mauro Icardi and Ivan Perišić when it comes to dividing the support.

The Nerazzurri will be praying his injury isn’t too serious as they weren’t the same without him against Juve.

The blow will be softened somewhat by Nicolò Barella now starting to justify his large price tag and looking like the man Inter thought they signed.

There wasn’t a blade of grass the former Cagliari man didn’t cover and it is exhausting just to watch him roam the field tackling, passing and driving his team on.

If Sensi is sidelined longer-term, Barella will need to step up in an even bigger way.
