Bayern Munich remain top of the Bundesliga but couldn’t stretch their advantage as they drew with second-placed RB Leipzig on Sunday.

Both sides had the chances to win but the title race remains very much alive with just four points separating the top four.

Here’s what we made of the game.

You HAVE to take your chances

Having squeezed through the first half as the weaker side, Leipzig came steaming out of the blocks after the break. But they missed three golden chances.

Firstly, the ball sat nicely for an unmarked Marcel Sabitzer but, just 15 yards out, he fired over 30 seconds into the second half.

And then a misjudgement from Manuel Neuer saw Timo Werner go beyond him. Left with a tricky angle, the striker was caught in two minds and his shot, rather than a pass to Christopher Nkunku, was blocked by David Alaba.

Werner missed an even bigger chance with less than half an hour remaining, passing wide from the middle of the box when completely alone. The final big chance fell to Bayern and Leon Goretzka but he couldn’t beat Péter Gulácsi from close range in the 80th minute.

One way or another, not taking at least one of those chances could prove extremely costly come the end of the season.

The future is north American

What an incredible find Davies has proven to be. Arriving as a teenager used ripping up defences in MLS, he’s been in Munich for just over a year and become arguably one of the finest fullbacks in the world. Already!

Dani Olmo appeared to be through early on but Davies put on the afterburners and made an incredible recovery challenge. Going the other way, his quick feet and smart passing make him incredibly dangerous and he was a constant threat.

On the opposite side, Tyler Adams is a natural midfielder who played right wing-back and did so brilliantly, managing the dual threats of Davies and Gnabry as well as you could hope, then moving inside and offering solutions to team-mates when they were required.

These two will be at the top level for a very long time.

The Bundesliga is boss

You won’t see many games with this much quality in Europe this season. No way.

Leipzig are managed by a brilliant coach still in his early 30s and they have talent all over the pitch. Dayot Upamecano was imperious in the first half, Sabitzer is a superb all-round midfielder, Dani Olmo excites everyone, Christopher Nkunku has been a revelation and Werner is one of the best young strikers on the planet.

But they were up against the behemoths of German football, both historically and today. Bayern remain world class in every position, have a strong mix of youth and experience, and have been superb ever since Hansi Flick took over.

Just one point separates the two, while Dortmund and Borussia Mönchengladbach are waiting in the wings as well. This league is superb and the final months of the season are shaping up to be something special.
