It was a comfortable night in Lancashire as Manchester City beat Burnley 4-1 at Turf Moor.

Jesus justifies his inclusion

After taking criticism for his peripheral performance against Newcastle on Saturday, Gabriel Jesus looked a different player at Turf Moor.

His link-up play was assured, he ran the channels tirelessly and boasted a variety of finishes in his Arsenal with two brilliantly taken goals.

The opener in particular was Thierry Henry-esque, curling beautifully into the corner despite starting its trajectory wide of the far post.

City needed him and he answered the call.

Faultless Rodri dominates midfield

Rodri has enjoyed a baptism of fire in English football but he was absolutely flawless in midfield against Burnley.

The 23-year-old made four interceptions, three tackles and completed two dribbles – all while maintaining a 91% pass accuracy.

His performance was topped off by a thunderous half-volley that flew past Nick Pope before he’d even dived, essentially securing all three points.

This felt like the night he finally arrived.

Burnley lacked bite

Turf Moor is a stadium famed for its hostility. Regardless of where you are in the table, you don’t want to play there.

Except Manchester City might as well have been playing a pre-season friendly on Tuesday.

Burnley couldn’t get close to them all game – some late challenges aside – and Sean Dyche will be fuming with his players.

The Clarets have already lost four times at home this season. Not good enough.
