Kaiserslautern match abandoned as coach suffers serious medical issue

Wednesday evening’s 2. Bundesliga clash between Darmstadt 98 and FC Kaiserslautern was abandoned at half-time after Kaiserslautern coach Jeff Strasser required urgent medical attention.

The 43-year-old was treated by paramedics in the dressing room and the match was called off with the score level at 0-0.

Kaiserslautern later confirmed via their official Twitter account that Strasser had been taken to hospital for further examination.

“Dear FCK fans, as you have probably already noticed, the away game in Darmstadt is cancelled,” read the tweet.

“Reason is a medical incident. Our head coach Jeff Strasser is on the way to the hospital for checks.”
