Oh Cardiff. This was your chance. A trip to a side who are already relegated. Chances to pick up vital three points don’t come much better.

Unfortunately for them, they visited Fulham, who seem to have decided to get going eight months, two managers and one relegation later.

Thanks to Ryan Babel’s stunner, the Cottagers look like they have managed to drag Cardiff down to the Championship along with them but this was a massive opportunity missed for the Bluebirds.

🗣 Talking points

  • Wolves gained sweet revenge at Vicarage Road as they went a little way towards healing some of the pain caused by their FA Cup semi-final defeat to Watford. The visitors will have enjoyed this one a little more given the anguish of that defeat.
  • Everton played well but couldn’t make it count as they failed to carry on the momentum from the win over Manchester United, but if they can start converting these games into wins, things will be exciting next season on Merseyside.
  • Matt Targett’s header at St Mary’s ultimately wasn’t enough to deliver three points for Southampton, but it was a landmark strike as it took the Premier League goals tally for the campaign to 1,000.

Babel can strike a ball. That’s something that has been evident throughout his career.

But he can’t have caught too many as sweetly as this one.

The Dutchman blasted the ball into the top corner following an excellent run and pass from Cyrus Christie.
