José Mourinho stole the headlines early on Saturday but there was plenty more to focus on in six afternoon kick-offs in the Premier League.

Another tough day for the Palace as Liverpool win again

Liverpool made it 37 points from a possible 39 in the Premier League with another win on Saturday. But it was far from plain sailing.

James Tomkins thought he’d given Palace the lead shortly before half-time, heading home a free-kick. VAR had other ideas, ruling the goal out after Jordan Ayew had pushed Dejan Lovren as the ball came into the box.

Liverpool quickly took advantage of that after the break. A quick attack saw the ball bounce awkwardly to Sadio Mané in the box and the Senegalese’s half-volley made its way over the line via both posts.

Crystal Palace rallied and got their reward with under 10 minutes to go, when Wilfried Zaha slammed home an equaliser.

Under Jürgen Klopp, though, Liverpool never give up. It took just a matter of minutes for Roberto Firmino to fire in after a scrappy encounter inside the box. The Reds march on.

Ings just get worse for Arsenal

In the week when their north London rivals sacked their Spanish speaking manager and bounced back with a win under the new man in charge, Arsenal luckily drew with the team in 19th to make it five without a win in the Premier League.

A quickly taken free-kick caught Arsenal napping early on and Danny Ings made no mistake, brilliantly converting in the near post. When Alexandre Lacazette did smash in an equaliser, it came against the run of play. By the half-time whistle, Saints had outshot the hosts ten to three.

Nicolas Pépé was introduced in response and Arsenal looked livelier in the second half. The Ivorian was quickly involved, spoiling a two-against-one chance on the break before hitting the bar with a volley.

Arsenal being Arsenal, they remained open at the other end. A Sokratis mistake meant an enormous chance fell to Cedric to restore Southampton’s lead but he fluffed his lines.

It wouldn’t be Saints’ last chance, though. Kieran Tierney tripped Danny Ings in the box and James Ward-Prowse scored what turned out to be the winner on the rebound after Bernd Leno had saved his initial effort.

If anything, Southampton looked the side most likely to score another in the closing stages. Somehow, though, it was Alexandre Lacazette who snatched his second of the game and a point for the Gunners.

Maybe now Emery is seriously under pressure?

Marco Silva on the brink as Norwich finally win again

A first win since mid-September took Norwich off the foot of the table and leaves Marco Silva fighting for his job.

An uninspiring first half did little to alleviate fears that both clubs are unlikely to improve anytime soon. Things soon changed in that regard, though. Well, for Norwich.

Teemu Pukki battled past a weak Yerry Mina to slide Todd Cantwell through. The attacking midfielder made no mistake, cooling placing the ball in Jordan Pickford’s near post.

The Canaries had to battle to keep ahold of their lead, Tim Krul impressed in goal, and they eventually doubled the tally as Dennis Srbeny drove into the area and slotted home.

Dominant Wolves make it eight unbeaten

Wolves were dominant at Bournemouth on Saturday and took home all three points to extend their unbeaten run to eight Premier League games.

João Moutinho broke the deadlock with a stunning free-kick from a tight angle.

And it was two before the break. In-form striker Raúl Jiménez netted his sixth in seven Wolves appearances, tapping in from an Adama Traoré cross.

Bournemouth’s day only got tougher when Simon Francis was sent off for a second bookable offence before the break.

Steve Cook halved the deficit but Wolves, with a man advantage and a European game on Thursday to think about, saw out the remainder of the game.

Leicester march on

The south coast hosted a clash between two of the surprise teams of the season so far on Saturday and it was Leicester who came out on top.

Brendan Rodgers’ side were dominant on the south coast and could’ve taken the lead after just over a minute. However, Ayoze Pérez nodded the best chance of the first half against the bar.

He made no mistake when he had a second bite of the cherry. Jamie Vardy was set free on a lightning quick break and he squared to Pérez, who tapped in.

Vardy got one of his own from the spot eight minutes from time to seal Leicester’s place second in the table.

Burnley up to sixth with flattering win

Burnley rode a first half storm to snatch a goal, then two more, and take home all three points at Vicarage Road.

Watford looked the more likely in the first half but Burnley are accustomed to digging in and did precisely that. It was typical, then, that the Clarets then managed to nab the game’s opening goal.

New Zealand skipper Chris Wood excellently flicked in from a corner one one of Burnley’s rare journeys upfield.

From there, there was only going to be one winner. Jay Rodriguez hit the bar for the visitors before Ashley Barnes added a second from the penalty spot and James Tarkowski rounded things off with 90 minutes played.
